Currently, this is the Grafton Senior Center, 1665 7th Ave., Grafton, Wisconsin. Every club needs a place to fly and the AstroWings are privileged in this respect, as we have an excellent field conveniently located between Grafton and Port Washington. It is the WE-Energies (WEPCO) Landfill Site, just off I43 Exit 93. As stated earlier, AstroWings does require all members to join the Academy of Model Aeronautics. In 1992 over 2500 clubs were under the AMA Chartered Club Plan with individual membership of more than 170,000 members! The AMA is the official regulating record keeping, and contest ruling body. And, although official operations commenced at the 1936 Detroit Nationals, it’s heritage can be traced back to 1905. The AstroWings hold AMA Charter #1167, and most events are sanctioned with the AMA and organized by a certified Contest Director (CD). |
